For Better Experience

Why Religion? (2018) is a personal response to the title's question. Elaine Pagels' touching book reveals how her own experiences brought her to the study of faith, and how that study has helped her deal with the traumatic events of her life, rather than discussing whether someone should adopt or reject religious belief.

Elaine Pagels is an internationally recognized religious scholar. She received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1981 and the National Humanities Medal in 2016. She is currently a professor at Princeton. The Gnostic Gospels, The Origin of Satan, and Adam, Eve, and the Serpent are among her previous works.
