For Better Experience

Tribe (2016) surveys the historical landscape and delves into psychological depths to discover what it takes for us to feel at home in the world. Author Sebastian Junger offers a disturbing response, based on a plethora of data from different disciplines: it is frequently in the middle of turmoil and violence that we create our greatest feeling of belonging. Extreme peril brings people together and exposes the feeling of community that is sadly lacking in ordinary life, from the Blitz to American Marines serving in Afghanistan.

Sebastian Junger is a journalist, author, and filmmaker from the United States. He is most known for his creative nonfiction book The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea (1997), which became a best-seller, as well as his award-winning documentary films Restrepo (2010) and Korengal (2014). He also penned the book War (2010).
