The Looming Tower (2006) is a book about al-Qaeda, its creation, and the people who make it up. These slates chronicle Osama bin Laden's rise to power and the events leading up to the September 11, 2001, terrorist strike that devastated the United States.

Lawrence Wright is a writer and journalist who works as a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine and as a fellow at the New York University School of Law's Center for Law and Security. Wright is best known for his nonfiction book The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, which was published in 2006.
