The Grid (2016) is a book about the massive infrastructure that keeps the United States running. These slates illustrate the story of how the electric grid was created, how it has grown through time, and what issues it currently faces.

Gretchen Bakke is a visiting anthropology professor at Humboldt University's Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys). She is also a member of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science's Anthropocene Working Group.
