Out of Character

by- David DeSteno and Piercarlo Valdesolo

Out of Character (2011) proposes a more flexible concept of a character that goes beyond the traditional binary of saint and sinner. These slates employ psychological tests to show how many of the features we think are fixed may be influenced by outside circumstances, often in unexpected ways.

"David DeSteno is a psychology professor at Northeastern University and the director of the Social Emotions Group. Piercarlo Valdesolo is a Claremont McKenna College Associate Professor and Chair of Psychological Science, as well as the head of the Moral Emotions and Trust Lab (MEATLab). "
