The Audacity of Hope is based on a keynote speech given at the 2004 Democratic Convention by Barack Obama that thrust him into the nation's spotlight. It includes many topics of Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.
Barack Hussein Obama II is the United States' 44th president. Before receiving his law degree and practising as a civil rights activist, he was a neighbourhood activist in Chicago. At the University of Chicago, he taught civil law, served in the Senate of Illinois and then represented Illinois in the Senate of the United States. He became the first African President of America in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012. In 2009, "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
